Red Flags in Pediatric Ophthalmology: When to Image a Child With New Strabismus
NANOS 2024
Neuro-Ophthalmology, Neuro-Ophthalmology/Orbit, Pediatric Ophth/Strabismus, Strabismus
Dr. Ellen Mitchell discusses instances in which neuroimaging should be performed in a child with new onset strabismus, including all cases of new-onset diplopia, new-onset nystagmus, or cranial nerve palsy. While it is possible for strabismus to be associated with intracranial pathology, this is less likely a concern if there is a history of intermittent esotropia or latent hyperopia.
